I picked up a PB reprint of this
anthology for a few pence. A fair number of more-or-less (only Harlan knows how much more or less) quasi-autobiographical stories about explosive jerks. Among the few memorable stories, "Neither Your Jenny nor Mine" about a guy taking a girl to Mexico for an illegal abortion, "Punky & the Yale Men" about a writer who
got his start by exposing street gangs in NYC being asked to go back to those streets decades later, and probably the highlight of the book -- "The Resurgence of Miss Ankle-strap Wedgie" -- sort of a riff on Sunset Boulevard where the aging star gets her chance at comeback, with equally depressing results.
