So. I had some photos that I was gonna upload but now they are gone because I've lost my iPhone and whoever has picked it up is a bastard. They've removed the sim card and my phone is now offline. Which means I can't track it with Find My iPhone.
Before I left New Zealand, my friend asked me, "are you going to fix your cracked screen or buy a new iPhone?" Well, I guess this answers that question!
Melbourne - 6:50 am flight
So, I left New Zealand on the 18th and went to Melbourne first. I was actually set to work on Saturday night and it wasn't busy at all but the sales went over $5000. $5000 is when we celebrate with a drink after work. So that was a good last shift. =)
I went home, packed the rest of my bags and slept a few hours before heading off to the airport. My friend actually gifted me a cuddle buddy pillow and I had the sense to bring it with me onto the plane. This made my journey to Melbourne the best ever. I was so comfortable and I slept almost the entire way. I woke up in the middle because breakfast was being served but I just went back to sleep. I actually had plans to nap a short while and then watch The Great Gatsby but I just slept the entire flight!
My uncle picked me up from the airport and we went into the city where we met my auntie (uncle's sis) and we went to have Yumcha. Now, every time I have yumcha, I always regret it afterwards. It just doesn't leave me feeling satisfied.
I've been to Melbourne quite a few times in recent years so this time, I didn't do much.
However, I think on Monday night, we bought a roast duck and ate it. Unfortunately, I got sick and vomited everything out. Seriously. Everything. When I was sure I had nothing left to vomit, I drank some water and a few minutes later, I puked that out too. Dear lord, it was so bad. I could hardly bring myself to eat the next day and ever since then, I've developed a fear for eating duck. Or rather, eating in general.
I reckon this was because for the past three months, I've been eating nothing but Japanese food since I'v been working so much at the restaurant. A sudden meal of fat and oil and meat probably wasn't a good idea.
I didn't really do anything except for meet my friend for coffee and dessert. My auntie baby sat three kids - Taiwanese mother with European father. This is the first time I've seen mixed blood Chinese-European kids prefer to speak in Mandarin instead of English. In fact, the youngest - 3 years old - looks completely white but everything that comes out of her mouth is in Mandarin. Only when she realises you don't speak it, she changes to English. I've always seen this sort of mix kids prefer English (all Japanese kids I know prefer to speak Japanese). So a big congratulations to the mother - especially since the father doesn't speak Chinese at all!
I did however pick up a lip balm by Kora Organics. My friend asked me to buy one for her but after I tried the sample, I went back and bought one for myself. I'll just have to see how it goes.
Hong Kong 7:35am flight
My flight from Melbourne to Hong Kong took off in the morning 7:35 on Friday. I deliberately chose this flight because the Saturday option was something like $300 more expensive.
I took a taxi from my aunt's apartment to the airport. The trip to Hong Kong was also very enjoyable. I traveled Qantas and I think they've upgraded their planes so even flying economy was high comfortable. I didn't have anyone sitting beside me either so that was really good.
I was however, disappointed in their collection of entertainment. I watched the Great Gatsby and Iron Man 3 then settled for watching three episodes of Modern Family and Anger Management - interrupted with sleeps in between.
Meals were also not very exciting. I no longer have photos of them since I've lost my iPhone... but for the main meal, the option was either fish or beef. I chose the beef and although it didn't look very appealing, it did taste okay. Snack was served a few hours later and it was a vegetarian pizza, in a box. Ugh. Yeah. It was nice though. Another snack was a fresh apple. I had no idea what to do with the core after I finished though. Haha.
Hong Kong up till today
Well, I tried checking in - as I am supposed to - on Saturday. But I only managed to check into my hostel. Kind of stupid really since the university told us we could check in from Saturday, I actually expected all faculties to be open and available. Unfortunately not. The exchange student office had closed for the weekend and faculties as well. So I just dumped my luggage and went back to sleep at my grandmother's place. On Sunday night, I returned to the university lodge. I'll post more about it later.
I finally checked in to everything on Monday, yesterday (Tuesday), I went shopping and today I lost my iPhone.
I'm going to have to go back to Megabox one day to take pictures of the Winnie the Pooh displays... sigh. I'm so sad. I'm actually more sad about the loss of my pictures than the phone itself. Ugh. Now I don't know whether I should cave and buy the 5 or wait till the 6 - I hear it's coming out in a few weeks.
Never mind. I'll see what happens tomorrow. I'm meeting a friend who is visiting from NZ tomorrow. I hope we manage to meet up... if not... then I'll know to get a phone.
