Jacob Black Natural Coloring Tutorial

1. Crop, resize, whatever you want. I tend to leave the sharpening till the end, but that's just me =]

2. Open a new Curves layer [Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Curves...]
set it to this: I: 125 O: 160. If your icon is darker than the above, than make the output higher, if it's already very bright, you can leave out this step entirely.

3. Open a Color Balance layer [Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Color Balance...]
set it to this: Midtones: 60, -45, -60
This is to give Jacob that 'tan, copper-skin' type look that he's supposed to have. You will probably need to play around with this depending on who you are working on.

4. Open a Brightness/Contrast layer [Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Brightness/Contrast...]
set it to this: Brightness: 20   Contrast: 33
This is just to brighten it up more and add more color and contrast back into it, and to level out the red.

5. And finally, this step is completely optional, go to  Filter >> Sharpen >> Sharpen  and then  Edit >> Fade Sharpen >> set the Opacity to 50%.

And you're done!! Simple isn't it? But it can have marvelous results! Remember, it all depends on YOUR icon and what YOU want the effect to be, this is just a guide to add some natural color to a dull and slightly blue-ish picture. I'd love to see results!!
