On how the RL attitudes toward homosexuality would have affected Sirius and Remus had they had a sexual relationship at school and beyond. (Remember, they were born in 1960.)

Okay, I'll claim this one. I can't find any information on the other one left.

The only thing is, I really don't ship Remus/Sirius. I'll try to take this from the standpoint of looking at how any homosexual wizard couple in the era would react as well as how each of them would react based on their personalities. That way I can get passed my issues over the ship. I hope that is okay. I probably won't have much on how each would react in a relationship with the specific other person. I just can't see it.

I don't ship Remus/Sirius either. I'm a bit of a non- or canon-shipper, really.

What I meant was, homosexuality wasn't taken off the DSM-IV til 1973, and homosexuality was hardly acceptible for the marauder's teen years. (Though I'm more informed about attitudes in the USA.) Most of the stories and shipping essays I've seen for the pair completely ignore the fact, and I'd like to see what someone's take on it would be. If you wrote it as a debunk, it would be no skin off my teeth.

Actually, that might be interesting. I actually have an idea. I can look at how aditudes in England were, how Wizarding aditudes might differ, and how the characters would react. Would Remus and/or Sirius be likely to buck culture? There certainly were homosexual couples then, no matter the pervailing opinion. Could I take it from just the characters then, and not the ship? See how likely it would be for Remus and/or Sirius to be involved in a homosexual relationship? That could actually be really interesting.
I'm actually really excited about this now. I might even expand it and see how things might have changed later on and if so, who would they be willing to be involved with. This sounds like fun.

Wizarding attitudes about sex are hard to determine from the book, but it will be highly interesting to speculate! One thing we noticed with hpbspork is that the Weasleys are a little old-fashioned when it comes to sex (they room Fleur and Bill separate, and separate the boys and girls in the tents) in comparison with the average UK family. If the Wizarding world in general is more old-fashioned than the Muggle world, would that apply to opinions on homosexuals as well? Would they be more homophobic than the Muggle world? There's a link between witchcraft and open sexuality in Western culture; can we apply that to the wizarding world?

I don't know the answers, but I look forward to reading what you have to say.
