I'm uneasy, irritated and anxious this evening, for two reasons. First
ABC has yet to order the back 9 on the current season of Pushing Daisies and while I understand the reasoning, I'm still pissed off that it's likely they won't even finish out their season. There hasn't been any official word from the higher-ups, but this late in the season, it's unlikely. Goddamn writer's strike. Everyone agrees that if they'd been allowed to finish out their season last year, they would have actually had a chance of building up a stronger following. Fuller has said if it does get pulled, he'll finish the series via comic book and possibly movie, which would give them the chance to do so much, but this is one of those things that was meant for TV. If I could have one thing for my birthday, which is tomorrow in case any of you haven't been paying attention, I would wish for them to at least get those last 9 episodes. I would forsake every other gift given to me- that's how much I love this show, how magical and enrapturing it is to me. If you can, give it a shot when it's on next Wednesday. If the decision hasn't already been made, it might help. Fingers crossed.
The other reason requires somewhat less explanation- one of my friends coming in tomorrow may not be able to make it in time for the movie, and I can't exchange the tickets, which really sucks, especially because if he doesn't make it for the movie, he either won't show up at all because I'd have to pick him up afterward or he just won't show at all because it won't be worth it. Urgh.
When life's gettin' you down folks, a little of the old Ludwig Van is just the thing to perk you up- Take this, the opener to the 6th symphony, nicknamed the 'Pastoral' symphony. It's 9 1/2 minutes of sheer bliss, and the orgasmic swell at the 8-minute mark feels like an orchestra featuring the angels of Heaven itself is lifting you up out of the gutter with a thousand arms:
"Allegro ma non troppo"
