Though I know it would have been impractical to do so, I really wish I could have updated more in the last week. And hence I feel that this derpy icon is woefully appropriate.
Where to begin...
The majority of madness what done occurred began last Sunday, as myself,
sgtmongoose fresh from Portland,
edcool1 and
sleepfighter had dinner at the Emery Bay market, before the boys and I headed over to see Funny People, the latest from Judd Apatow, over at Bay Street. I was on edge, as my car had died before I left the house and I was hopeful, but not convinced, that it'd be ready to go for our trip to LA in the morning. My worry was indeed in vain, mercifully, as I was informed as soon as the movie got out that all was well. As for the film, I cannot remember the last time I laughed so hard. In a way, I feel like the film is a tongue-in-cheek look at Sandler's career- at one point, one character says, "He's so funny, why are his movies so bad?" So it's nice to see he's willing to be a bit self-depracating. That's where some of the best humor comes from, I've found.
The next morning, the same group headed out from Izzy's for sunny Los Angeles. The plan was for me to spend Monday night and most of Tuesday hanging with
poiuppx- sadly, it did not quite work out that way. As it turned out, Alex was in the midst of an allergy-related sickness, and though he was well enough to have me over Monday night, the next day he was not nearly as well, and elected to stay in bed and recover, and the next day he woke up so late, hanging was a moot point. I'm going to try to make it down there before he comes to see me, ideally if he has time when Inglourious Basterds comes out, as I feel kind of gypped, and we didn't even get through a third of season 5 of Lost. The rest of the trip was enjoyable- good food, interesting local color, and an awesome bar the last evening. Certainly was glad to be back, and then the next day, a new journey began...
Friday, I sojourned out to Sacramento to see
cacophonyblood, whose pad I returned from just a few hours ago. The long and short of the trip was Black Lagoon season 1, The first 3/4ths of Dollhouse season 1, G.I. Joe and a pretty cool Irish Pub last night. Joe was great mindless entertainment, major emphasis on mindless, and she seemed to enjoy the animu and TV show as well, and she's always fun to see, so it was a lovely trip overall.
And now it's time to do absolutely nothing and watch anime.
