High above in the hills of Sacramento's forest covered peaks one Valentine's Day evening, Ian and Anthony had decided to take a spontaneous trip to one of the hills by car, one that was high enough to get a surprisingly clear overview of nature and part of the city. Ian had said he wanted to scope out the area for a possible future video potentially, but they both knew very well that the trip ultimately ended up being an excuse to take a nice relaxing break away from work and to potentially make-out under a blanket of stars. It was mostly Ian's idea and despite Anthony wanting to treat him to dinner and a movie, Ian found this to be a much better alternative. They did make a stop at one of their favorite Americanized cheap fast Mexican food places to get some food to-go because Ian and Anthony weren't really the type to eat in fancy restaurants often despite being well off from working the YouTube industry. When they drove up to the lookout across the city, the sun was looming over the horizon and the first star of the evening twinkled high above them in the fading light. Ian watched as the last few beams of sunlight faded away, creating a brilliant yet soft mixture of fuchsia and violet as the sun fell further down the horizon. Sitting in his parked Scion, Anthony glanced up at Ian and formed a small smile at the edge of his lip, eyeing the way Ian's pupils were round and wide in the shadows, and taking note of how the shorter man had allowed a light amount of scruff to form around his mouth. He chuckled inwardly, remembering the other times when they had tried something spontaneous and how sometimes their dates ended up backfiring. Anthony reached into the paper bag and pulled out a foil container with rice, beans, and vegetables covered in a plastic lid, and Ian glanced over, beginning to take his meal as well, and he inhaled his bowl as he brought up to his nose and sighed contently. "It smells so good," he sighed as he took off the lid and opened the package of utensils, and Anthony chuckled as he watched. "Remember when they forgot to give us spoons or forks and we had to fashion them out of the lid?" Anthony grinned, thinking back to the memory causing Ian to join in on the laughter. They ate and laughed as the sun disappeared and one by one the twinkling sky began to fade into existence and they leaned back their seats and looked out into the night sky. Anthony felt at peace with Ian at his side and tenderly leaned into his side, moving his hand up onto Ian's lap and intertwining their fingers together and a small smile grew on Ian's face. There was no need for further intimacy because they had achieved a comfort level they both were content with and even as the night sky continued to reveal tiny sparks of light with the occasional flicker of a shooting star, Ian had found himself thinking about how moments like this one were the ones he would always cherish for the rest of his life. Anthony found himself gazing at Ian's eyes instead of the stars and when they met he felt himself become light and bubbly, like he was on a cloud, then the kiss happened and he felt fireworks inside him bursting and lighting up everything around him. They never wanted to lose that feeling and through the warm, soft kiss they knew it was love that would keep them together.
