but. This is 100% deliberate, and has been happening for years. Christian Conservative political groups have been looking for political offices that are uncontested - like schoolboard positions. They get their people in these offices for two reasons. 1) They can affect policy right now. 2) They develop name recongnition, which is pretty much the number one predictor that they will get elected to a different, more important position later.
This is because the Christian Conservatives GET IT. And they GET IT in a way that liberals simply do not. If the liberals could stop bickering about a bunch of petty bullshit and work together, they too could start having real, direct political power. All politics are local, but on a local level, liberals often have the attitude that they shouldn't have to get involved, or they can't make a difference, or they are too busy organizing concerts for awareness to get in the ring.
We have learned over and over again that it hardly matters who the president is. If there is no one there to back him up, who cares.
We live in a representational government. If we want our voices to be represented, then we have to run for these offices too. And I suppose this rant should go to me too, although I have worked on campaigns all my life.
