Sorry, but fuck you, Radical Right

Otterson, managing director of public affairs for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints] said it was too early to tell what the long-term implications might be for the church, but in any case, he added, none of that factored into the decision by church leaders to order a march into battle. “They felt there was only one way we could stand on such a fundamental moral issue, and they took that stand,” he said. “It was a matter of standing up for what the church believes is right.”
Absolutely, because I'm sure that $40M wouldn't have helped a single starving child, for example. Better to stop the horrible, horrible spread of homosexuality rather than do Christ's work, because, as we all know, Christ preached endlessly on the evils of homosexuality, and virtually nothing about clothing, feeding and housing the poor, the sick, or children.

(On the flip side, I agree with a lot of my fellow queers when we ask where all this energy and outrage was before the election, and a lot of these protests, which beneficial in and of themselves for the sake of our community, are sometimes going overboard and hurting our cause. It wasn't just the black community, it wasn't just the Mormons, it wasn't just older voters, so what's the point in singling any of them out? Let's focus on what we need to do next to make things right.)
