Quickie updates:
- Had a fabulous weekend at Busch Gardens a couple of weeks ago, despite the rain and drama llamas that were out in force. Some people should never be allowed to plan things. Ever. Ugh! (I'll be planning our trip to Gay Day at Kings Dominion in September.)
- A good friend of ours is going to Afghanistan for a year. Very not happy. We had a going away party for him, and he went off for two weeks of leave to see his family in Florida. He comes back this weekend for one day before shipping out to San Diego (lucky him) for 3 months of training before heading overseas. Hopefully we'll see him before we head off to Pennsic.
- My grandmother has been in and out of the hospital three times over the past month or so. For a while it was uncertain if she'd be able to take the various problems she suddenly developed (low iron, a staff infection, pneumonia), but today we had some good news and hopefully things will turn around for her. At 94, she needs all the medical help she can get, but thankfully her mind is still sound. We may swing through Philadelphia on our way to Pennsic to wish her well (and see how Mom is doing).
- Yup - Pennsic is this weekend. When did that happen? :D Fortunately because of three very good friends (buddykat, galtine1 and Celeb) my garb will be arriving via Mongolian Express - from my storage unit in San Diego to Celeb's luggage to Pittsburgh to meet me at Pennsic. Whee! I realize I now owe these three big time, but what else is new? (I'm also certain magus_nascitur and minotaurs are thankful they didn't somehow get suckered into braving my storage unit once again!)
- Had an interview for an office manager position at a real estate firm on Friday. She was very interested in me, but I haven't heard anything concrete yet. If I hear before I leave for Pennsic, I will happily give my notice and not return there again (lots of reasons I'm disappointed, not the least of which are broken promises, promotion of others over me, and said others then doing some majorly uncool things while the owners were away and not getting fired for it).
- I've volunteered to run the MCC booth at the little area pride event they're having after we get back from Pennsic. No matter how much I try to gafiate, they always pull me back in. ;)
- Got a new plan and phones from Verizon, so now I have a spiffy new flip phone with a camera and such. Eventually I'll figure out how to post pictures and such.
- As I mentioned previously, I finally finished the floor in the living room. It looks fabulous, if I do say so myself. Lots more to do, of course, but we're well on our way. Hooray!
- Moving ahead with the art pimping biz. I'm going to be seeing two good friends at Pennsic who are bringing their work with them for me to bring back and start getting out for them. I've also contacted some new artists, and reconnected with my previous artists to talk about the details. Looking forward to moving ahead with this when I return from my annual battery recharge. :)
- Did I mention it's freakin' HOT? Ugh. :(
