I have to admit that I was really shocked yesterday evening to hear that singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse had died. I mean, I knew, like everyone, that she did drugs and drink and stuff, and that she had cancelled more than one performance over the last few years because of her problems, but even so it is still a "shock" to learn of it when it actually happens. I own Amy's album Back To Black and it has always been one of my favourites (and my, do I have some albums!). She was a talented singer/songwriter with a very unique voice. She was also quite good live, which is nice to see, as unfortunately some singers still aren't that good when out of the studio.
I suppose some of my sadness is also down to the fact that Amy was the same age as me (as is Cheryl Cole just FYI!). It just seems more shocking I think, when someone is the same age as you...
Either way, I think the music industry has lost a special talent, despite all of the problems she had. My thoughts go out to her friends and family.
