For anyone who likes to travel and who likes France and French culture

Jun 14, 2011 10:12

If you like to travel, and/or if you have a specific like or love for all things French, you might like to join or watch my new community called LA BELLE FRANCE.  Here is a small description:

Ever since a very very young age, I have been familiar with France. My parents used to take me camping, and by the age of 8 I had already seen most of the country. When I was 12, my Dad got a job here, and, with a chance for me to learn to speak fluent French, and better job prospects for my Dad, we moved to Toulouse, in South-West France, in 1996.

Now, in 2011, we are still here, and I have come to call this country "home". I am British by nationality, and lived for 12 years in the North West of England. But when I say I'm going "home", in my mind, I'm actually thinking of Toulouse.

I've always loved France. It has such pretty landscapes and nice old cities. It has its traditional foods and recipes, as well as pass times such as Pétanque (known to many Brits as "boule"). But of course it is also a very modern country, with bowling allies, cinemas, MacDonalds, discotheques, and anything else a modern country has. Like a lot of countries, it also has its own specific way of mixing old with new, France with Europe, and ultimately, with the whole globe. And yet, it still manages to remain "La France".

Through my posts in this community, I would like to share with you as much of France as possible: pictures of nice villages, snippets of History, perhaps the odd recipe, etc. You may comment at your will, and you may also repost any pictures you like providing that you credit, and that you follow my couple of rules which are listed in the User Info.

Happy Browsing!!
I haven't posted anything but a description at the moment, as I opened the community this weekend, and I was busy with work.  But I shall post something this week.  You can find my community at: belle_france
