Twenty classic Tolkien stories
I've been noodling around Fanlore of late, after being invited to join the gardening team, and had the idea for a project to add ten classic stories for each of my main fandoms. I soon got round to bending the rules a bit, as you will see. Here's some thoughts for Tolkien -- 20 LotR & Silmarillion stories...

These aren't necessarily my favourites or my opinion as to the best, but some mixture of classics, influential stories, best-known stories by some of my favourite authors, a representative spread of the fandom at the time I was in it (2002-2004), with a dash of my favourites thrown in for fun. First stabs at the two linked are already up, but thoughts on the other choices are welcome. I'm only allowing one work per author & I'm excluding A Boy, A Girl, & A Dog... by P@L because
stultiloquentia was there before me.
Other people's lists very welcome (meme!), and if I can encourage people to add to the woefully inadequate Tolkien coverage at Fanlore, so much the better! [Lights blue touch paper and retires...]
