A survey year in review. Thanks Dayna (Sorry, I spelled that wrong at first!) for posting!

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Experienced the first day of school as a "teacher," taught middle school, purchased and enjoyed a legal drink, threw a successful theme party, facilitated a conference call between 120 8th graders in Chicago and students in Uganda

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I think I resolved to read more. I did a little bit, but I could always do better.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes! My cousin Jenni gave birth to MacKenzie! Oh, and Caroline!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Unfortunately yes, Anna Lowe, one of my favorite professors.

5. What countries did you visit?
Just here and Canada (but next year's survey will include Uganda!)

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
More energy and a lot more positivity!

7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
March 24th, 2007

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting through the first semester of PDS hell with all As (and only one minus).

9. What was your biggest failure?
Losing my keys! And in general being so stressed out that it brought on too much negativity.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not until a few days before Christmas. I've been ridiculously ill with fever and coughs and aches for a week.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My sweet green digital camera.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Groceries, eating out (especially at Dunkin Donuts next to Hayt)

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My first day at Hayt and my purple and green birthday party.

16. What songs will always remind you of 2007?
Jens Lekman's whole album Night Falls Over Kortedala
Mims - This is Why I'm Hot (I blame Zach)
Kanye West - Stronger (This and the following due to Suzie)
Justin Timberlake - What Goes Around
Sufjan Stevens - To Be Alone With You (complements of Camille)

17. Compared to this time last year, you are:
- Experienced in my field of work

Less...
- Sure what the next year is going to hold

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Read, exercised

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Complaining about PDS

20. How will you be spending/did you spend Christmas?
I stayed at home with my family. We opened presents (I got an ipod! It was very exciting and surprising.) and hung out and played games (Guesstures and Mario Party) and I was rather ill the whole time.

22. Did you fall in love in 2007?
Nope

23. How many one-night stands?
None

24. What was your favorite TV program?
I'm not sure when my obsession with Lost began but I know Suzie and I spent a large amount of time watching it this year.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No

26. What was the best book you read?
"What is the What" by Dave Eggers

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Probably the Sea and Cake or the New Pornographers

28. What did you want and get?
An iPod for Christmas, a sweet 21st birthday

29. What did you want and not get?
A wonderful PDS placement, but really I think it was the attitude that needed adjusting not my placement.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I barely remember watching any movies this year. I don't think I should answer this one.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned the big 21 this year! On my actual birthday (which was a weekday) I went for a quick drink at Hamilton's with Suzie and Julia and Camille and had a lovely time. For my party and motley crew of friends attended my purple and green themed birthday party. Friends from all the different realms of my life (education, IC, and even Dearborn!) were represented and it was amazingly fun!

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Winning the bet!

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
"I'm trying so hard to make something professional work here" at school and "Oh my god, I can wear jeans!" when not.

34. What kept you sane?
Suzie (because she always knows my context), Zach and Matthew (who both really helped me keep things together when Suzie was gone), my mother (per usual but especially this first semester at Hayt), listening to absurd amounts of Jens Lekman, and the PDS crew

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Sufjan. He revitalized my hope in my heterosexuality.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I guess you could say Uganda issues

37. Who did you miss?
Anna Lowe, my dad, my mom

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Seriously Zach. I feel such great triumph in that friendship.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
Maybe something about positivity. I'm not so sure I've learned it yet.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
This is the one I said. It's kind of a downer but true:
"I want to sleep in my bed, I want to clean up my head, Don't wanna look this dead, don't want to feel the dread"
