Why are some Olympic events called "ladies" and others "womens"? ie. ladies figure skating vs women's hockey.
On another note, I'm kinda sad that Pleshenko didn't get gold. I think someone who could do a move that no other person could do deserves to be recognized. That said, his landings were pretty shaky. How much of the final score comes down to choreography? I mean, if someone's got better choreographed footwork than the other, then they are poised for a better score from the start...
I think that Japanese skater who's laces broke should've got a better score. I think you should get bonus marks for continuing after wardrobe malfunction and having a fantastic "showman" attitude and not giving up.
Evan was definitely good...major LOL at his hair sticking up every time he spun. he needs more hair gel or a bobby pin.
Johnny Weir's jumps were amazing!! I was hoping for a more outrageous performance, but he kept it tame and classy...so why the low mark then?????? In my mind he did better than Patrick Chan. He deserved a better mark than the one he got. He didn't fall once! Figure skating isn't as clear cut in judging like in a race such as speed skating. I guess as a viewer I don't know much of what they're looking for in terms of judging. But even so, I can see what is impressive. And Johnny Weir not falling at all was pretty impressive.
But one of the best moments goes to Pleshenko's tango choreography. Major LOL it was TRES awesome.
EDIT: I vote for Johnny Weir to skate to Adam's For Your Entertainment or Fever. THAT would be a riot!
