Would anyone care to train with me? I'll be at the battle dome for a while, and I'm open to new scenarios.

[Terra is there for a good portion of the morning, revisiting familiar sites from home, though occasionally she will switch to a different scenario, trying out places she visited with friends. She can also be found between bouts of training ( Read more... )

[He's standing nearby and overheard that. And is picturing some kind of Gladiator-style place now.]

Battle dome? What's that, some kind of fight club?

[Terra glances over.]

Hm? Oh, no. Not really. It's a place where you can find simulated monsters and the like though. And all sorts of backgrounds can be created, too.

So it's a computer-simulated fighting arena... pretty much a video game? Is that what people do here for entertainment?

[Entertainment-wise, Mulder has noticed a severe lack of adult video stores. This makes him a sad Mulder. :( But he supposes virtual reality can be fun, as long as the simulaitons aren't literally trying to kill people like that one he investigated.]

Some people--though I see it less as entertainment and more as training. I can't afford to become rusty, not here....

Why, are we in any danger of attack in this village?

[Something in her tone definitely makes him wonder...]

Um...possibly. It was invaded last year, so I'm told, and well...a few of the people here can be violent. Not that most are--

[She shrugs apologetically, wishing she has better news.]

Who invaded? ...Did they come down in flying saucers?

[Yep, totally straight-faced asking that because to him 'invasion' screams 'extraterrestrials.']

Flying...what?

[Sorry, need more context here.]

Flying saucers? Unidentified flying objects? Spaceships? You know, what extraterrestrials use to get around in?

[Still confused, she shakes her head.]

...um, no. They didn't need any ships to arrive. They're part of this world, I think.

Oh, so we're on their territory? Then someone should find a way out of here! Where are their headquarters?

[In Mulder's experience all you have to do is forcibly break in and then... well, you kind of have to ad lib it from there. Still.]

I...don't know. It's past the barrier, somewhere. And no matter what magic I use against the barrier, nothing disrupts it. It's the same with anyone else.

How deep or high does the barrier extend? Anyone ever try digging under or flying over it?

esper_flight December 22 2010, 05:35:59 UTC
Yes and yes, though neither has allowed for an escape. I'm...not sure how deep it is, but as for how high--about ten miles, I think?

Are there aircraft? You could send up planes of some kind...

[She shakes her head.]

Except for magical means, there's no reliable form of transportation. We don't even have chocobos here. Airships...no, definitely not. I wish otherwise, but the Malnosso aren't that generous.
