It's hard to believe I've been here for two birthdays, already. At least this one ought to be quieter....

[As opposed to the one where she, you know, died. Those who were there for that can guess the reason for the relief in her voice.]I think I'll investigate the battle dome sometime this afternoon. Who has tried it? I'm interested to hear about ( Read more... )

[Hi, Terra, have a small neighbour also inspecting the dome. She had heard her message earlier that day, too, but had been a little busy with school to respond. Now, at least, was an opportunity.]

Terra! Hello! [Jogging over, Zelda gives her a beam.] I heard it was your birthday today!

[Terra smiles and nods.]

Hello, Zelda! And yes, that's right. What do you think of this, so far? What you tried it out?

Happy birthday! And I haven't really tried anything yet, but I've watched some people, and it looks really interesting! I wonder if I can show you some monsters from my world? [Bounce, bounce. They were frightening, sure, but she and Link beat them, alright!]

[She nods eagerly.]

Yes, I would like that! Please, show me.

Okay! [Hmm. She'll head over to the controls, then, poking at them for a bit before making a satisfied noise.] Alright, that should do it! Come on, let's go!

[Hurry up or you'll be late, Terra. One of the compartments now looks like a cave, and they're equipped with swords, shields - and boomerangs.]

[Terra darts over, not about to be left behind. She peers at the selection with interest, though already has her own sword.]

It's amazing, what this place can do....

[Don't mind Zelda, she's just gawking. It looks exactly like the tunnel in the Fire Realm - amazing!]

Right! [she finally says, holding her boomerang aloft.] Do you hear that flapping noise? Those are keese. You should move slowly so they don't hear you and start swooping - look for a patch on the wall that's a bit darker tha moves and bit!

[She's not admitting it, but she's a little wary - being accurate with a bow is one thing, but she's never actually used a boomerang.]

[Tilting her head, Terra listens and hears that noise after a moment.]

Alright, I'll remember that. I'll let you take the lead, since you're familiar with this place.

Okay! ...Well, I only went through it once. [Still, better than nothing! She moves cautiously, stopping when she catches a glimpse of movement.]

...There, [she whispers, pointing with the boomerang.] ...Have your sword ready in case I miss!

[EAT BOOMERANG, KEESE.]

[...Or rather, be started into full alertness as the boomerang goes an inch too wide, sending it shrieking and squeaking towards them.]

[Terra draws her sword, moving into a defensive stance. She's waiting to see what they'll do, not being familiar with these creatures, but ready to act the moment they're within range.]

[Bats, basically. Nothing large or horrible or intending on eating your face, but they will scratch it like crazy if they get the chance to.]

Look out! [Zelda yelps, swinging her sword hard - the flat of it smacks one in its keese-y face and it drops like a stone.]

I see them!

[Terra lunges out with her sword when they're close enough. She endures a few scratches, but her aim is accurate and her arm swift. The immediate bats are dealt blows strong enough to drive them back, if not kill them.]

[There's not many of them, thankfully. Between Zelda and Terra, the keese are either dealt with or driven off, leaving a mildly tense silence in their departure.]

...Well! [Zelda finally says, smoothing down a tangle where a wingtip had caught her hair,] That wasn't too bad!

[Terra glances over to Zelda and smiles.]

No, not at all. Shall we move onward, then?

[She keeps her sword unsheathed, just in case there's trouble nearby that can be dispatched quickly.]

Okay...

[You know, Zelda is sure she's forgotten something. There's those horrid creatures in the pots up ahead, she does remember that, but she's sure there's something else... it's a burning question.]

[Up ahead, there are more flapping sounds. More keese, she notes grimly, nodding across at Terra.] Get ready...

[And round the corner they come.]

[On fire.]

Fire keese! [she yelps, and starts hurling the boomerang for all she's worth.]

[Upon seeing the fire keese, Terra's eyes widen. Still, she's too well-trained to stay flat-footed for long. Quickly, she conjures large shards of ice, at the creatures. One of the basics of combat in her world is that anything aligned with fire is weak to ice. She can only hope that's true this time, as well.]
