Has it started...?
Did I understand right and Megaupload is down? I woke up half and hour ago and the news here - definitely not the U.S.! - says that Megaupload has been taken down and some of it's workers/owners have been arrested for copyright infringement. Is the site really done for? Does anybody know?
And dear Lord, if any of those bills passes! From where I'm looking at it, it's just going to make the Internet pure hell for the normal users who talk, make friends and hang around with each other, change ideas, write, read, etc. pure hell, while the professional piracy simply figures out how to avoid the laws and keeps on going. I mean, if I've understood correctly these bills could take down sites like Wikipedia, Facebook, Twitter and so on, which are quite a bit away from sites like Megaupload (and I can understand why it would be taken down). Really, Wikipedia? It's meant for information - not illegally spreading copyrighted material!
