Went to the Worldwake release event at Montag's on Sunday - went 2-2, ouch. Had no real bombs in the sealed pool and had to aggro out and hope I got there. It worked for the first 2 rounds, then I ran out of luck.
0-4'd a Team draft last night - never done that poorly before, ouch again! This does not bode well for San Diego, heh.
On some local MTG news, the
MTGFanatic 5k tournament for a Beta Black Lotus at
Comicpalooza, is now going to be a Standard tournament instead of Extended. This actually works better for me since I have a little bit of experience with Standard now as opposed to zero experience with Extended. I understand the move is so that they can get more people playing an interested in the tournament, which I can find no fault in their reasoning. Standard is much more popular and for a higher dollar tournament like this, you definitely want to make sure you get as big a crowd as possible. I'll be definitely making a showing and will try and drag as many players from my group as possible to try and get that Lotus!
Speak of Standard, I got this in the emails on Monday:
