Young Justice episode 5 - Infiltrator

Feb 12, 2011 10:33

Artemis debuts!
- The action begins on Infinity Island. No idea where that is or who is based there. Curses, my nerd-fu has failed me.
- Ah, it’s Roy. He’s breaking into a compound of some sort.
- He’s there to save a blonde scientist. She’s snarky, I like her.
- “What do you call this, the Arrow Boat?” “I call it a rental, now get down!”
- ...He minded the beach? Erkay.
- Hm, was that Dr Cyclops?
- And... some other dude I don’t recognise.
- Mount Justice has got funky. *dances to music*
- The team play around at the beach, with some overtly fanservicey bits on Megan, while Wally has started High School. I think.
- That or uni.
- Okay, their day does look fun, I’ll give them that.
- Wally ready for the beach! ..too bad they’re introducing Artemis this episode.
- HA! She talks like Shego by why of Rose Wilson!
- And she’s basically Green Arrow’s replacement for Roy. Ouch, harsh mate.
- Wait, getting a sarcastic replacement for your previous sidekick who went off in a sulk? She’s JasonTodd! ...that also doesn’t bode well.
- Hey, Artemis has a compound bow, compared to the one piece-ones the other archers in this show have. Interesting.
- Artemis is apparently Green Arrow’s niece. Considering we already kinda of know who are parents are... it has as much validity as Megan claiming she’s J’onnz’s.
- Wait, scarfaced island dude was Ra’s? They were the League of Shadows in any case. Huh.
- And the blonde scientist was forced to create a grey goo weapon for them, called the Fog.
- Hopefully it’s more interesting than the movie, the Fog. So many leprous ghost sailors.
- Artemis smirks. Hee.
- Wally and Artemis be having the tension, yo.
- The arrow from the previous episode was her’s apparently.
- I think that might be Sensei, not Ra’s. He’s got a Japanese accent.
- And now they’re sending someone to get the scientist.
- Artemis thinking loudly about how hot Superboy is. And knows that everyone else can hear her.
- Chesire!
- And she’s wearing her mask from the Teen Titans cartoon!
- And she’s is stealthy enough to evade both Megan and Artemis, apparently.
- And she’s able to knock out Wally and leave him to drown face down in a swimming pool surprisingly easily too.
- She’s got her poison too. All she needs to do now is to have several kids, only for them all to die or get given away for adoption and she’ll be all set.
- Megan flies off to save Wally.
- Chesire has a flick-katana. Heh.
- She escapes, because ninjas are magic.
- Aqualad can hear you glaring.
- Spider-man is in the League of Shadows apparently.
- And it’s the hook guy who assassinated Deadman!
- His hook looks more sturdy than usual.
- Megan is the scientist!
- Chesire is kicking their asses more than Amazo did. And that’s hilarious!
- Aqualad has water-katanas to show he’s hardcore. And now Chesire’s gonna keep dosing him with poison to see who his immunity level is.
- Anti-virus downloaded, so the scientist doesn’t need to be assassinated. On the reasoning that if they need her again they can just kidnap her again.
- Nanobots stopped before they hack Wayne Enterprises mainframe, woot!
- Chesire confronted by Artemis, who blows her mask off.
- Wait a second... Artemis is apparently half-Vietnamese in this continuity... OH MY GOD, CHESIRE DOES HAVE KIDS IN THIS UNIVERSE!
- Artemis lets her get away due to her blackmailing to reveal A’s secrets... Uh oh.
- Wally snarks about Artemis loosing Chesire. And takes her mask as a souvenir.
- Megan has 12 sisters apparently.
- Yeah, Artemis is basically Rose Wilson.
- Yeah, the League of Shadows guy is Sensei. No way in hell would Ra’s refer to anyone has being his master.
- Interesting, one of the members of the Light sounds a little like James Marsters... Lex a member, possibly?
- He also hesitates before referring to the JLA and YJ as the “heroes” implying that the Light don’t see themselves as villains. Interesting.
- And the overt reference to Artemis being a traitor. Duh duh dun!

Overview: Another good episode of the show, which seems to be getting consistently better as it pregresses. Nice selection of cameos, though Sensei’s model being based on the new albino Ra’s was a little confusing. Both Chesire and Artemis were very well done, and if my theory is correct they may be attempting to riff the Cass Cain/ Lady Shiva relationship further along the road. We’ll see. Good action scenes and generally excellent animation. The Contrast between Wally starting high school and the team messing about on the beach was pretty well done. Looking forward to the next episode, which I believe has Klarion in it. Apparently Wally doesn’t believe in magic, which makes sense I guess as all the team have deal with thus far are sci-fi and nonpowered threats.
