Young Justice: Happy Harbour - Watchery and Stream of Concious Musings

Young Justice Ep. 2 - Happy Harbour
- The action begins with Green Arrow villain Brick making his animated debut, with an arms shipment that is foiled by Roy Harper aka Speedy. Who is still pissed at the whole “Rarr, the JLA treat us like children!” thing from the pilot.
- You can tell he’s a rebel now because he doesn’t have his dorky Robin Hood hat any more.
- Funny thing is that if he’d stuck around he’d have gotten a place in Young Justice. Ah well.
- The other members of the team, bar Miss Martian, are there to try and get him to join up to their little troupe.
- Well, not even the promise of Superboy and Megan is enough to get Roy onto the team, and he wonders off in a sulk. Blimey, from the way he’s acting you’d have thought that his kid had been squashed by falling masonry or something.
- Hey title sequence! Well Artemis is in it. Doesn’t have the umph of the other DC cartoons though. Even Teen Titans have more umph than this.
- Hey, it’s Red Tornado! Heh, just realised that the wind powers and the arrow on his head make him look like Aang. Or vice versa.
- He makes whirring noises as he moves. Nice touch.
- And he refers to Bruce as The Batman. Heh. Definate article and all.
- Megan has a nice dress.
- Aw, she’s nice. :) That translated over at least.
- And a little info on their hideout is given. Interesting.
- Err, don’t grab her hand like that, it causes mixed signals. In fact all of us stop being creepy around the telepath!
- Hey, she has TK now. Neat.
- Heh, reference to Wally’s heightened metabolism from Justice League.
- And Megan’s telepathy hurts people. HA!
- Reference to the previous episode. Obviously what with being controlled telepathically Superboy wouldn’t like it when Megan talks to him in his head.
- Bioship. Hm, reference to when Wonder Woman’s one was also alive, maybe?
- Ah, the Megan TG-Young Justice scene. Apparently it was meant by Robin to break the tension following an awkward moment caused by the aforementioned Superboy/telepathy scene. Not Robin treating her like a freak for his amusement.
- HERO TIME! Mysterious tornado of mystery!
- And Robin can apparently do the whole “disappearing” thing that Batman does. Even in a mostly empty carpark in daylight with four people with superpowers. Presumably Superboy was just being polite and not pointing out that he’d left.
- It’s Deadpo... It’s evil Red Tornado! With a scarf that doesn’t match the rest of his clothes! Called Mr. Twister apparently.
- Heh, Wally putting on his goggles as a disguise while the rest fight in plain clothes. Nice touch.
- HEY! I know that voice! Oogie Boogie/Cluesmaster right?
- Wow, the team kind of suck.
- Boo! They upset Megan!
- The set designs in this show are nice. :)
- Good fight scene, same the town was mostly destroyed before the team engaged him a second time.
- Megan is useful! Hooray!
- And Superboy punched a hole through Mr Twister! Holy crap!
- Hm, Brom and a guy with a pencil-moustache. Dr Morrow?
- I like their retro-gear.
- And Red Tornado is kind of awesome.
- And so, all is resolved, the team are treated more like adults and Superboy learned how to apologise. Huzzah!

Overview, kind of a step down, slightly, in quality from the previous episode. The animation and sound design is excellent, but the characterisation is a little stilted. Hopefully it'll get better as the show progresses. Megan was a good character, though the team acting alternatively so dismissive and aroused by her got kind of grating. Hopefully them hitting on her won't be a central part of the upcoming series.
