Seira watched Tao as he twirled around his room, humming along with the song that was playing from the computer. She'd heard thumps on the ceiling when she was in the kitchen, but it was clear that there wasn't any danger. Before she was able to leave again though, Tao opened his eyes when the song lulled.
"Oh!" he exclaimed, his head ducking down a second later. "I didn’t notice you were there."
She didn't answer him, looking at him curiously. "What are you doing?"
"Me?" A sheepish grin stole across his face as he went over to the computer. The music cut off after a few clicks. "Dancing. Never really had some private space where I can do what I want without other people seeing."
Ah. And she'd seen what he wanted to keep secret. Seira turned away. "I'm sorry for intruding."
"Naaah," Tao said, flapping a hand at the same time. "I don't mind if you know; you won't tell anyone, and anyway, it was only really Shark I didn't want knowing about it."
From the little she'd seen of him, that was understandable. "Where did you learn to dance?" she asked, taking a small step into Tao's room. Was that how humans here danced?
The grin quirked up at the edges. "I didn't learn it. It's just…stuff I picked up from videos or I just do whatever I feel like doing." His eyes flew wide a second later, his grin brightening. "You know how to?"
"I have only been to a few formal dances," she said demurely. There hadn't been that many since she'd become the Clan Leader.
"And that's still more experience than I've ever had!" Tao walked up to her, but stopped a few paces away. His eyes sparkling, he bowed at the waist, spinning his hands with a flourish. "May I have this dance, Miss Seira?"
A small smile tugging at her lips, she pointed out, "There isn't any music to dance to."
Tao laughed, straightening up. "That would probably help." He bounced back to the computer and after a few seconds of muttering to himself and clicking, the music started up again. It was slower, more melodic than the previous song, and Seira wondered if there was a reason why Tao chose it.
"So…" Tao drew out as he held out his hand; Seira took it lightly, stepping close to him. "Now what do I do?"
Smiling into his shoulder, Seira guided him through the steps she knew - they didn't fit the song in any way, but she didn't think either of them minded.
