(no subject)
This week has basically been work, work, and more work. A post negotiation, a big presentation on Chinese FDI, not much sleep, and not too much else to report. Its now reaching way back in memory - after a weekend mainly in playing catchup. Next time I'll post more quickly so the jokes and whatnot are fresh in my mind. Sunday night was intersting though. I took a quick trip back out to Akihabara (see prior post) - the nerd capital of.........well.....Earth. It was a nice night:

(Nerdiness) I also found a building which was pretty much Anime central. Full of memorabilia, and I think they do premiers and whatnot. Nothing much doing. The usual erie life-size suspects.
Andi, I have some pictures of the original Escaflowne concept art for you. Other that - interesting other highlights include Lego Char, and a mecha fighting game that is inter-franchise. Patlabor, Gundam, Macross, etc, etc. (/Nerdiness)
Not to mention I found the airsoft gun arsenal. Now - airsoft guns are fake facimilies of real guns that fire little plastic pellets using springs, electric motors, or compressed air. Its fairly surreal - machineguns, handguns, the lot. Now - I've seen my share of guns and I can tell you, these are indistinguishable from the real thing at 3 inches away. They're metal, and lack the little orange cap. Really scrutinize this picture:
That said - its not as strange as the Hello-Kitty grip kit for the REAL Colt Commander.
Like I said - the weird doesn't stop. After getting off at the station to Jumbo screens showing dancing Cactuars - I went home, popped on TV, and the was a game show related to dental hygeine. It started with an animation of a plaque eating away at someone's gums. Note this is all set to that ultra-dramatic music from the end of Amadeus. Then it spread into the blood stream and formed plaque-looking things in the blood - cut away to slow burry shot of woman collapsing. Somebody must have told the director that "DOOM" was the mood they were going for. Then it cut to contestants, who sat in front of huge black devil-cum-dentist statute - as they dramatically revealved the extent of the decay to dark-dramatic orchestral music, as the contestants faces turned white with terror. Seriously - what the hell.
Other than that - for all I remember its been a week of hard work, pretty walks to school:
