As I munch on this bun full of red bean paste (Its actually not that great), which is the kind of thing the 7/11 equivalent store had in lieu of hot dogs, I finally and at long last can sit and write a post. Classes have started, fun hasn't slowed down, and the stress of finding a permanent apartment has mounted. But it seems that in my case that has just been solved. This morning its finally time to rest, sleep in, and catch my breathe. Appropriately its a rainy day.

I'll try to recount the events of the past few days in some detail, but first - since its on the forefront of my mind, Jess got her license. This is particularly a feat since she has about zero access to any cars to practice on. Congratulations are in order. Well done Jess.

In other news, it seems I have an apartment. Its the one I mentioned in Shibuya. Now there are pros, and there are cons. On one hand - Shibuya!! I'll walk by 20 arcades a day; plus you know that huge intersection they always show in anime and movies with a million people crossing? Well, I kid you not, I'll be one of them twice a day. The other good part is its location. Not only is the district great, but its a reasonable drunken stumble (walk) from Roppongi, the big nightlife district, so as long as I stay in those locations, I can drink out past the 1:00am public transit shutdown. Note here though, unlike Boston, the bars will then stay open all night.

The bad part is.....its location. Its a proper hike from school. About 20 minutes walking through the times square fun, for a 10 minute 2 stop train ride, followed 10-15 minute train transfer, then by a 5 minute 1 stop train ride, capped by a 10 minute walk. I figure about an hour each way, twice a day. All of the closer apartments were snatched up, leaving only the prohibitively expensive. Its been pretty competitive. Well at least if I'm far, I'm far in someplace interesting. The other down side is the size. Its SMALL. I'm struggling to think where I can put my suitcase for example. Actual pictures will follow when I settle and move in, but here is the one from the website:

But to reiterate - that its a few blocks from here:
