Hello... hello? Does this thing still work?

Jan 19, 2006 21:37

Looking back, I see it's been a month and a half since I last had a real entry...

Honestly, I could have sworn it was longer... the last month and a half has felt more like 3 - 4 months

The weekdays seem longer, the weekends seem longer (always a good thing), but I always feel like I don't have a lot free time... more on this later...

Since my last entry (Dec 3rd), the following have happened:

I turned 23, and saw an awesome show (WBRU Birthday Bash) with Denise for my birthday
Bowled a 701 series
Celebrated my birthday with my friends, in North Attleboro a week after my birthday (Damn snow!)
Went to my first cocktail party
Watched Charlie Brown Christmas before the big day (Like I do every year)
Christmas
New Year's Eve in Boston, ringing in the new year on a rooftop
And many weekends full of movies and all around fun

They're a little blurry... it's hard to keep a camera steady on a windy rooftop on a cold, snowy night

Fireworks at midnight...

The view from the roof... it was really amazing

Couldn't have asked for a better way to ring in the New Year :)

On a more serious note, I've been feeling like I have no free time after work and that's what's really been keeping me from updating... I get home and the last thing I want to do is start typing away at the keyboard, because it's what I do at work all day (granted, it's for a completely different reason)

However, thanks to a little help, I realized how much better I have it right now...

My new job pays better than my old one. It's in my field. I can make my own hours, so I leave earlier than I did at the old job. I'm having the best bowling season I've ever had. I average 190 on Mon and 196 on Tues. My personal life is looking up, lots of good things going on right now. Plus many other things that are escaping my thoughts right now...

Thinking about it though, I wondered why I felt I had less time after work. Looking back, I had time to play softball, go out to a movie, go to baseball games, and even go to a company outing after work at my last job. And I had to stay later at that job on average than I do this one, so it makes no sense why I felt this way.

After looking at it rationally like that, I realized how much time I really do have after work, but it was how I was spending it. At the old job, I would accidentally stay late because I was talking to my friends. At this job, there's only a couple of people that I'm friendly with, and I knew both of them before I started. But it's getting better. While I enjoy this job better, I definitely liked the people at the first job better (No offense, Pat!).

On a less serious tangent, I'm going to San Diego!!! March 4 - March 11! I'm so looking forward to this trip, I could use the vacation! I'm excited for two reasons... one, I get to go to back to California (It's not San Fran, but I'll save that for another trip) and two, it's the first time I'll go on a trip to a new place with a group of people that I'm not related to in any way :)

I'm looking forward to seeing the San Diego zoo, and we might take a trip up to LA, it's only 2 hours away by car, maybe we could check out the La Brea Tar Pits or Hollywood or something cool like that :)

Well, I've taken about two hours writing this entry and it's definitely way too long, but hey, I had a lot of updating to do for my loyal LJ fans (especially those who will read this whole damn thing)
