Snowy Fremont Peak, with a zoom lens from our kitchen window.

We were there the moment it began to snow~

Salinas looks pretty from so high up: and the bay beyond

The tree that lives on a rock at the peak, cold cold granite

Looking north to the Santa Cruz end of the bay, golden hills

our home is out there somewhere.

we hadn't been so cold since skiing in Heavenly, Tahoe

Fremont from the woods after the snow began to melt a few days later.

The night it began snowing in the hills there was hail down here and SImon didn't come home one night. THe coyotes were yip-yipping within a cult-a-sac and we got up to whistle for him a few times but he didn't come. In the cold morning we put on two layers of wool and walked for with Molly to search for tuffs of gray fur.

We found him scared shitless two storeys up in a neighbor's pine tree! Billy had to get an extendable thing from his school and taped a basket to the top and pushed him out of the tree. Our poor guy!!

Before that while we were near Fremont Peak we went for a leisurly stroll through San Juan Bautista where Billy found a surfboard at a thrift/antique store and we walked through the historical stuff there. It was a quiet trip through time.

THis was a wedding dress of a lady who had survived The Donner Pass incident as a child

This is one OLD wisteria!

Late 19th century porn on the wall

Driving north to Santa Cruz to do christmas shopping

Melting frost in the woods:

Simon got a pull the string toy from the people who watch him whie we're gone and he liked the tissue paper more and Molly Sue took over the toy.

Back to Monterey, three hours later
