A few excellent articles/posts about the murder of Dr. George Tiller, one of the few late-term abortion providers in the U.S., yesterday:As amilyn said, this wasn't just a murder. This was terrorism, pure and simple, yet another attempt on the part of the far right to control women's bodies and their reproductive options, to punish one of the few men brave enough to perform an important, legal medical procedure and scare others enough that they are unwilling to do the same. And that's an issue that affects every one of us.

ETA: Hopefully unnecessary, but just in case, I'm going to quote mtgat: And if you're tempted to pull out the old strawman and pretend that hordes of loose women are deciding in their eight month that they just don't want to have babies so they're sashaying into clinics left and right and going shopping afterwards, you can bite me. Or, put another way, if you're an opponent of abortion, rare late-term abortion or otherwise, if you think George Tiller was a murderer who got what he deserved, or whatever the fuck else, I don't want to hear about it. Not today. There are many spaces open for this kind of debate, but my journal isn't one of them.
