A dear friend of mine, bdbdb, a wonderful woman and a wonderful member of the fannish community, was just diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She spent several days in the hospital, and she lost the sight in one eye (and nearly lost sight in both). She's home now, but she's drowning under crushing medical debt on top of everything else -- she has no medical insurance, is facing bills larger than she makes in a year for just this first round of treatment, and doesn't have family who can help her out.
Her good friend Marina is trying to raise funds for her through her Etsy store (where she sells beautiful handmade jewelry) with all proceeds going directly to bdbdb for the next month. You can help by buying something from the store, by donating directly using the button at Marina's blog here, or even just by reposting this in your journal.
Every little bit helps, and anything you can do would be greatly appreciated.
