So in today's "Laura Hale/partly_bouncy is an asshat and the fanhistory wiki is anything but unbiased" news: Check out the discussion page for "eBandom."
This entry and discussion really say everything you need to know about the wiki -- people in a fandom start referring to said fandom by a name that has not been used before, or used only very rarely. Laura Hale and her friends, who are not in that fandom, decide the name disenfranchises them, and take it upon themselves to rename said fandom. Laura then uses her wiki to pretend this term she invented, which is not used anywhere except in posts by her and her friends and in the wiki entry she wrote herself, is something official, and totally not an attempt by a few people to control a fandom they're not even in.
When people actually in the fandom she's trying to rename attempt to edit the wiki, she deletes the edits and claims she is more qualified to speak for the fandom than people who are in it, and, by the way, the term is TOTALLY being used all over fandom, and it totally doesn't mean anything that no one, including her, can link to its usage anywhere but on her wiki and in her own and her friend's journals. Laura Hale says it's being widely used, and goddammit, we should trust her. She's a HISTORIAN! Who has a WIKI!
In other news, I am hugely amused at the icon LJ Addons chose to accompany this post.
