Especially for me, who gets overanalytical on just about everything, let alone an NBA series, let alone one with the Pistons in it, these Finals are a nightmare on the psyche. The Finals that no one can figure out.
In one sense, I'm predicting San Antonio to win because of home-court advantage. If the home team is winning each game by 15 points or more, AND winning their second home game by more than the first when you know these two teams are smart enough not to come out without more intensity than the previous game...Home-court has to have something to do with that.
In another sense, I'm predicting the Pistons because of their track record against handling adversity, a record that is a lot better than San Antonios. The Pistons have won the last four playoff series they have trailed in. They came back from 3-2 on New Jersey last year, having to win Game 6 on the road facing elimination...After dropping a double OT decision in Game 5 at home...They had to beat Miami twice in a row...The Spurs lead the Lakers last year...Who the Pistons beat by the way...2-0...And the Lakers won four in a row on them. And that was just the conference semis.
So I think you could make a case for each team, basically, as I think out loud.
Had Dave, Eric, Dan, Chris, Rob and Ashley (in order of arrival) over for Game 4. Dan and Chris had a lot of fun teasing my dog with Cheez-Its and goldfish pretzels.
Yesterday I was at work (internship work) from about 9:15 to 6:45. I know, for some of you that's nothing, but I'm only supposed to be there from 10:00 - 5:30. Went to a couple bars in Mt. Clemens with Dan in the evening and shot some pool. Today I slept in a bit, we had a garage sale, went out to eat with my mom's family for Father's Day at the Brewery (had some dang good veal parmesean and strawberry shortcake)...
Was tempted by my uncle with an offer to go to Greektown Casino, BUT...One, I want to save my money this time...Two, I already planned on hanging out with Dan and Greg...Three, the last time I went to the casino, I won money, but the Pistons lost their next game...So I respectfully declined, though I was fairly tempted.
And then I went to Greg's and shot pool with him and Dan. Between tonight and last night, I'm learning I really suck at pool. I mean, I've known that, but I mean learning that I REALLY suck.
Tomorrow is a day full of church, grass cutting (my grandparents' and ours, prolly take the whole day) and then doing something (I presume) for the Piston game.
And what's scary is it's Saturday night, and already I'm scared I'm going to kill someone at work on Monday :-). Hoping I'm just over-worried there, because I know I am a worrier.
