Nostalgia for a Loved One - Chapter 12

Description: Kiba and Naruto have started to notice something, everyone seems worried. It seems as though everyone knows something terrible, everyone except them.
Chapter 12
Kiba nudged Naruto, waking him. "Huh? Wh-whozat?" asked Naruto, eyes opening slowly. Kiba appeared in his vision, "Oh, Kiba. Thanks again for letting me stay the night." he said, rubbing his eyes.
Kiba nodded, "Anything for you. Want some breakfast?" Kiba asked, kissing Naruto's forehead.
Naruto got up, "Yes, please." he picked up his clothes from the floor, "I'll be right down."
Kiba nodded and walked down the stairs.
Tsume poured batter on a frying pan after she removed the finished pancake from it.
Naruto walked down from the stairs, "Morning Tsume, thanks for letting me stay." he said, taking a seat at the table.
She nodded, handing a plate of pancakes to Naruto, "Sure." she said, removing the next pancake from the pan.
Hana took a plate of pancakes from Tsume and set them down in front of Kiba, then went back for her own plate.
Naruto took a bite from his and almost choked, What is this?! he thought to himself, swallowing what was in his mouth.
Kiba was holding back tears and laughter at Naruto's expression.
Naruto pointed to his pancakes and stuck out his tounge, then waved his hands.
Kiba nodded and pointed to the dog bowl on the floor behind Naruto.
Naruto turned around and scraped the pancakes into Akamaru's dog bowl, leaving a few pieces on the plate to appear as if he'd eaten it.
Tsume and Hana took their seats at the table.
Tsume looked over to Naruto, "Want some more?"
"Oh! Um, no thank you, I'm full!" he said, cheeks turning red.
Hana giggled and ate a few small bites, Tsume shrugged and took a big bite.
Kiba finished up his pancakes and put the plate in the sink, then beckoned to Naruto, "We're gonna go out Mom."
Tsume swallowed a bite, "Whatever." she said.

Kiba fiddled with Naruto's fingers as they walked, looking at the various shops and stands filled with people, "Want to shop anywhere?" he asked, "We got enough money from our last mission, may as well spend some of it."
Naruto nodded, "Up to you." he said.
Kiba stopped messing with Naruto's fingers and pulled him to the sides so they could look around.
Naruto stopped, almost making Kiba fall since Kiba was pulling him. "Look at that. Looks like Pervy Sage made his next book."
Kiba looked into the window of the bookstore, "Want me to get it for you?" asked Kiba.
Naruto shook his head, "I don't reading much as it is, I just thought it was neat that he got he next one out."
Kiba shrugged and began pulling Naruto again.
This time it was Kiba who stopped, he sniffed the air, "Lets go to Yamanaka flowers!" he said, smelling the fragrant scent.
Naruto nodded, "What do you want flowers for?" he asked.
"I don't, but they smell so nice, I don't think I've ever gotten that scent from their shop before." he said, still enjoying the aroma.
Naruto shrugged.
A bell rung as Kiba pushed the door open, Naruto following.
Ino looked over at the two, "Hi you two, I didn't expect to see you two here any time soon." she said, finishing up the purchase from a customer.
Naruto shrugged, "Kiba liked the smell of the flowers." he said, sniffing a flower near him.
Ino smiled.
Kiba sniffed the air, then redirected his attention from the Ino to some bright blue flowers in the corner, he sniffed them and reached out to feel the petals.
"Don't touch those!" Ino shouted, "Can't you read?!" she shouted again, "The vase clearly says: 'Poisonous! Do not touch!"
Kiba quickly pulled his fingers away from the flowers, "Heh, I guess that's what I was smelling earlier." he said, "Why are you selling poisonous flowers?" he asked.
Ino shrugged, "There not for sale, I don't know why Dad put them out."
Naruto walked over to the blue flowers and looked at them closely, "What are they for?" he asked, "The petals are strange."
Ino shrugged again, "My Dad said they were for-"
"Ino, come here please!" shouted a muffled voice from the room behind the counter.
"Just a sec Mom!" she shouted back. "Anyways, Tsunade's been saying-"
"Now Ino!" her Mom shouted.
Ino slammed the checkout counter, "Fine! I'll be there in a second!" she pouted, "See you two later." she said, walking in the back.
Naruto and Kiba shrugged, then left.
"That was strange." said Naruto, grabbing Kiba's hand as they walked out.
Kiba nodded, "And those flowers, I really would've bought one if they were for sale, I loved that scent." replied Kiba.
The two started leaving the market district, aimlessly walking around Konoha.
"What do you want to do?" asked Kiba, swinging both their hands.
"How bout Ichiraku Ramen?" he asked, rubbing his belly with his left hand.
Kiba laughed, "Sure." he said.

As the two passed the hokage building, yelling was heard.
Naruto and Kiba stopping, turning their attention to the windows upstairs. Tsunade was yelling back and forth with someone.
"If you think that...! ...and that...!" said a muffled voice, then, "Yes, my lady...! ...but...and that...you have to understand!" shouted the other muffled voice.
The figure that appeared to be Shizune stepped over and put her hand on Tsunades arm, whispering something. Tsunade shook Shizune's hand off of her and turned around, noticing Kiba and Naruto. She closed the window's with curtain's, then more voices were heard and then a slam.
The front door to the Hokage building opened, a figure walked out. Kiba and Naruto quickly hid by the wall.
"I know your there." said a voice.
Kiba and Naruto walked back out.
Naruto ran up to the figure, it was Ko Hyuga."What was that all about?" he asked, Kiba following Naruto now.
"Nothing you need to know about." said Ko, flicking a single sign hand seal and disappearing with a poof.
"W-wait!" shouted Naruto, grabbing the air where Ko was.
Kiba put a hand on Naruto's shoulder, "Don't worry about it."
Naruto turned around, "I just get the feeling that..." he said, sighing.
"Let's go get that ramen." said Kiba, grabbing Naruto's hand and pulling him.
Tsunade looked through the curtains at the two leaving.
Shizune patted Tonton, "We're gonna have to tell them sooner or later." she said, looking up at Tsunade.
Tsunade re-opened the curtains, then looked out at the buildings and tree's around Konoha, "There's must be another way...knowing Naruto, he'll try to take the blame for the whole thing, he won't be happy, and Kiba won't be happy either, he'll try to take the blame just so Naruto won't feel any pain." she said, putting her hand to the window, "I just can't stand hurting either of them. It's not their fault." she said, her hand now sliding down.
Tsunade turned to Shizune, "Shizune!" she shouted.
Shizune walked up, "What is it?" she asked.
Tsunade sat down at her desk and picked up a paper, writing on it, "Send this message to Kumogakure's Raikage when I'm done. I have questions that need answers. We're going to try and prevent this war. If we fail...we'll have a big war on our hands."
"Hai!" replied Shizune.

Alright, there's chapter 12. I think I should've made a few more chapters with just fun stuff, but I'm having a hard time thinking of what they'd do. Well, the next few chapters won't go directly into the conflict, and I think I'll right a one shot story or two before writing chapter 13, but anyways, comments please!
