Nostalgia for a Loved One - Chapter 5

Description: Kiba has been horrified by what he seen the previous night, he'd had nightmares all night. He didn't know what it was, but it didn't look realistic at all. Naruto is assigned a second mission.
Chapter 5
Kiba and Naruto woke up together that morning, and got dressed together. After last nights event, Kiba had decided not to leave Naruto's sight, afterall, Naruto said he would protect him. The two had no breakfast after Kiba said he'd rather get on with the day. "Kiba, I think we need to talk to Grandma Tsunade about this." said Naruto, determined to solve last nights mystery.
The two made their way to the Hokage building. Kiba had been holding Naruto's hand tightly the whole way, hugging him close each time he thought he'd seen the figure from last night. Naruto knocked on Tsunade's office door. "Come in." said a muffled voice. "Oh Naruto, Kiba. Here for your next mission?" she asked, "Yes, but that's not why we came origionally." answered Naruto. "Go on." replied Tsunade. "Well, last night, Kiba saw...well, we don't know what it was, but he's been too afraid to anything." said Naruto. "First, how do you know what he seen last night?" asked Tsunade, "Oh, we're...together." replied Naruto. "I see. Back on topic, what did it look like, and how did the whole scene go?" she asked. Kiba stepped foward, "It didn't look like anything human...or like an animal." Tsunade nodded. "It started after we finished dinner at my house, when it started to storm." Kiba closed his eyes, recalling the scene. "During the whole duration of dinner, I'd felt like I was being watched. Naruto pushed it aside, but when he went to use the bathroom I went outside to check. I didn't find or smell anything. I woud've never been as scared as I was, but it was so terrifying. After I went back inside, lighting struck again, I seen the figure at the window. It disappeared when the lighting stopped." Kiba looked down, "I screamed for Naruto as loud as I could, then I fell to the floor, and screamed for him again. He looked out the window and saw nothing, then we just went to bed, and I had nightmares." finished Kiba, finally.
Tsunade got up and looked out her window at the buildings of Konoha, "Hmm. Was it maybe the dinner? Was it expired?" Tsunade asked, still looking at the city. "No. I just bought it that week." replied Kiba. Tsunade remained quiet, then turned around. "Naruto, I have your next mission!" said Lady Tsunade. Kiba looked suprised, "What about me?" asked Kiba, "Kiba, the mission concerns what you seen last night. I don't know what it was, but if it's after you, then I have a feeling it will," she emphasized the 'will' in her sentence. "get you. If no one is watching you that is. Naruto, your mission is to stay up tonight, and watch around the house. Your mission is to protect Inuzuka Kiba!" Tsunade told Naruto. Naruto nodded, Kiba put his head down. The two walked out. "I feel so helpless..." said Kiba, Naruto looked at him, "Kiba, if you really seen something last night, then I want to be able to protect you, I won't lose you." said Naruto, face stern. Kiba hugged him, he began to sob, "T-thank you, Na..ruto..." he said.

Naruto and Kiba made sure they got to the Inuzuka district early that night, if something was really there, then they would want to be there first. It was already passed sundown, and Naruto was waiting in a tree above Kiba's house. Nothing would get in that house without going through him first. Kiba was in his room, the door was locked and his curtains were closed. Naruto had a key to the room, he would come in if he had to help Kiba.
It was really windy tonight, no storms, but it was windy. Naruto looked at Kiba's window, then down at the front door. "If your out there, I'll get you..." whispered Naruto to himself. He felt something brush past his back, turning around, Naruto seen a figure disappear, then it turned out to be a branch. "Hmm.." Naruto was deep in thought, keeping a sharp eye at the Inuzuka's home. Just then, Naruto felt a push on his back, he started to fall from the branch down to the ground. He couldn't control a thing. "Damn!" he shouted. he landed with a crash on the ground. Naruto get up slowly, whatever pushed him wasn't there anymore. Naruto looked around himself slowly, "Leave him alone." he said. The the wind blew hard, figure brushed past Naruto, knocking hi to the ground. Naruto got up quickly, then did a few hand seals, "Kage bunshin no jutsu (Shadow clone jutsu)!" he shouted, several clones of himself appeared next to him. The origional Naruto took out a Kunai and got ready. The wind blew again, even harder this time. Each one of his clones disappeared. "What!?!" he shouted. "This is impossible! I can't fight a---agh!" he was interupted by the creature pushing him down. As he fell he thought he'd heard metal tink against the cement of the walkway to the front door. He got up and looked towards the house. The front door! It was open! Naruto patted his pockets, the key, it's gone! No! Kiba! shouted Naruto in his thoughts. He ran into the house and went up stairs immediently. He pushed Kiba's swinging door open. "Kiba!" he shouted, Kiba looked at Naruto, "D-did you get him Naruto?" asked Kiba, Naruto sighed. "No, not yet. But don't--" Naruto stood, frightened and filled with terror, Kiba transformed into the nameless creature. "Kiba!" Naruto fell on his knee's then fainted.

"Ungh." moaned Naruto, waking up. He was in the hospital of Konoha. "H-hey Kiba...Kiba!" Naruto looked around worried. Noticing Kiba's abscence, Naruto got up and ran out into the Hospital halls until he heard Kiba's voice call him. He ran into one of the rooms, Kiba was there with a bandage wrapped around his forehead. "Kiba, what happened?" asked Naruto. Kiba was silent, "It got me..." said Kiba. "No..." said Naruto in a low tone. "Why are you here then? Wouldn't it have taken you away...?" asked Naruto. "Yes," started Kiba, ", but someone heard screaming and ran to the Hokage building, telling her. Once Tsunade found out about it she sent in ANBU black ops to secure the situation. "I can't believe I failed, it's only luck I still have you...Kiba..." said Naruto, sorrow in his voice. "How badly did it hurt you?" asked Naruto. "Nothing too bad, whatever it was, it was a genjutsu apparently, we both got caught in it at one point. I got caught it in when I felt I was being watched, I don't know about you though." Naruto nodded, then he remembered when he seen the figure disappear into a branch, that must've been when Naruto was caught in it. "Anyways, the bandage is just to keep my head ok, that night, when you fainted near my bed, I was hit by the ninja who used the genjutsu. He was a missing-nin from Kumogakure (Village Hidden among the Clouds). They didn't catch him though. Their sure he'll be gone for a while." finished Kiba. "Good." said Naruto. "This means if we stick together he can't hurt us." said Kiba. "We've been doing nothing but!" replied Naruto with a grin.
That night the two ninja stayed at Kiba's again, they had two more nights before Hana and Tsume would be home.
