As you already know, if you placed an order for this calendar the money has been already refunded (or will be any minute now). The fansite closed the sale 10 days before the actual deadline, and rejected my order because it was a large quantity (15 sets); mainly because they have been having problems with people in Japan, Korea and China selling their stuff at premium prices (usually 4 or 5 times the original price). I'm really sorry for this but there wasn't much I could do about it. The fansite masters where really stern about this and I couldn’t work anything out with them. I am extremely sorry to all the people buying from me, I really did all I could (I went as far as talking to one of the masters) but nothing. I can't say sorry enough, I am very dissapointed too )=, and I hope everyone can be understanding because this was really out of my hands .
Coincidentally, I received an e-mail two days agofrom a LJ user *omitted for privacy* before the fansite closed the sale - quite a rude e-mail I must add -, asking me why I was selling the set for such price for the fansite was selling it for around half the price and that she/he could 'report' me. I could have just ignore such e-mail, but I felt a little offended, I was not concern because I could be reported, but I felt the need to explain to him/her the reason why I make pre-orders for fansite goods and why is different from the people selling at premium prices. Before I get another 'threat' via e-mail, I would like to explain why I sell these goods (for those who don't know).
Like most of you, I'm a fan too. I have been one for around 5 years. Back in the day was even more difficult for us fans to get those awesome fansite goods, many times way better than the official stuff SM or Avex releases. When I start buying for myself, I got asked by many of my friends if I could buy for them too, and then more people start asking me, so I decided to help other people buy these.
I do not live in South Korea or Japan or anywhere near, I live in Mexico. Shipping charges can be brutal, and while I do understand my prices might seem high sometimes, there isn't much I can do. I'm not going to lie and say I do this for free, because I don't. This is a shop of sorts after all and what I do is pretty much serving as a buyer agent and charging a small fee (it is small, believe me) for my services.
Buying from fansites is not like buying from any store, it can be really difficult and the responsibility is big. For example, for Xiahlendar goods in particular, the fansite was selling it for around $30 USD, add to that a percent fee for bank transfer fees and currency exchange, let say around 9 USD per set. Plus EMS shipping fee *depending on the weight of the set* which in this case is a BOX per set, plus packaging and insurance. Everything comes around 56-57 USD. And I'm selling the set for $65 USD. I get around 9 USD. So that's what I actually get for each set I’m selling. Is not easy. It really isn't and it gets more difficult because many times Korean fansites only sell to Japanese fans or Chinese fans. Explaining this I'm not trying to make people think 'oh poor Esmy she's so nice' or 'Wow Esmy works so hard' or anything in particular because after all that is my job in all this; I just want to make a point and explain how my case is different from those people selling at premium prices. If you have been to Yahoo Auction Japan or auction.co.kr, you will know what I’m talking about, sometimes goods being sold for hundreds of dollars, now that's a rip off.
In another note, whenever there are fansites who are willing to sell overseas or take PayPal I let you guys know. Also I never hide the websites so just about anybody can easily go there and buy themselves if they want/can. I am a fan too and I'm not to go around and rip people off if that's what some may think, but it would be a lie to say I don't get anything from selling these goods. Most times I'm able to buy my own set of goods with what I get from the sales (anywhere from $5 to $10 USD max), sometimes I just save the money to pay bills like anyone else; in general, people who are buying from me is people who can't buy themselves for whatever reason. Including the fact that, dealing with Korean fansites can be tricky, plus the language barrier.
I just want to make clear that I'm always trying to make things easy for the people buying through me, and that includes lessening costs for everyone. I've bought from other people as well, usually from Yahoo Japan auction or Auction.co.kr, and I've paid a lot of money for things like this, that's why I allow split payments because I know how hard can it be to buy things like this.
So after writing this, I hope that people sending me e-mails saying things like 'your goods are too expensive' and the sort (I do get those e-mails from time to time XD), can now understand a bit more how things work for me, and this is all I was going to mention about Xiahlendar and this whole issue. ^^
On a brighter note, there are two fansites taking international orders and PayPal. One of them is BabyChangmin and the other is Jung Goon's Cafe. Just click in the banners to get redirected to the websites.
