Dramatis Personae
Jonathan “Jon” Littledragon, good-looking college student.
Emmy Scott, photography major.
Setting
Emmy’s dorm room. All the furniture has been shoved to one side, and her bedsheets have been hung on the wall to create a continuous background. Several lamps are arranged around the room, with their shades at different angles. Jon stands in front of the sheet while Emmy adjusts her camera.
JON: So what do I do now?
EMMY: What do you mean, what do you do? You let me take your picture, just like we’ve been doing all week.
JON: Yeah, but those were Joe-College-about-campus shots, where I was doing something. (wanders over to one of the lamps and reaches out to straighten the shade)
EMMY: Don’t touch that! (as Jon jerks his hand back) It took me ten minutes to get the angle right. Go stand in the middle there.
(Jon moves obligingly)
JON: No, really, what do I do? Do I go like this? (lowers his eyelids and produces a hideous moue) Or this? (turns his back to the camera, hipshot to the right, and looks over his left shoulder) Or this? (attempts to pirouette, but nearly falls over) Okay, not that.
EMMY: You’ve seen models before, in magazines. Just do what they do.
JON: Yes, but they’re all girls. They emphasize their boobs - which I haven’t got - and their butts - which I haven’t got - and they have wind machines blowing their long glossy hair - and I haven’t got either. (sighs and runs his hand through his own short hair) I’m kinda out of luck.
EMMY: (shooting furiously) That’s perfect. Hold it. Smile.
