Haha 'Planning a hostile takeover'. I love it when other people are so predictable at charades. :D
Also love Frederic and Isaac's bafflement! :) We had one clock we had to wind, and we had always managed to lose the key every single time it came to winding it. :)
Frederic and Eddie know Celeste well. ^_^ Most people today would probably know that there are some clocks that need to be wound, but wouldn't have a clue how you go about it, so the bafflement is only a little exaggerated.
We only had one clock that needed to be wound also, which rarely told the right time, since my mother only kept it around for the tick. But the key on that was an actual part of the clock, and so you couldn't lose it. I seem to recall that when I was quite small, we had a different one, which you wound with your index finger, but then, I could have just been playing with it instead of really winding it. *shrugs*
I wonder if I would have recognized the clockwinding myself, maybe I would have. I have an old pocket watch (it was probably my grandfather's, but I don't know for sure), and it's winded by twisting a small knob. I usually don't bother to keep it on time, since I have modern clocks too, but sometimes I just have to wind it because hearing the ticking sound is so delightful. :) Even more so taking into account that before I got it, it had been in a cupboard unused for literally decades, and when I tried winding it, it worked, just like that.
They knew how to make things back in the day, didn't they? My clock that I keep around for the tick is battery operated, but there's something about a tick that's very reassuring.
Everyone needs a hobby, and takeovers is Celeste's.
