So I see other people posting nice CC to share as part of the season, and I admit to being intrigued. If I had something that I wanted to share, how would I go about the whole process? Where do I find the file? How do I upload it? How do I make sure it won't hurt anyone else's game? How can I tell if it's compatible with PCs? And so forth

Points and laughs! Aww no, I wouldn't laugh, it's as much as I can do to remember how to share betweens times of not uploading anything. Meaning-I forget how.

I think anything you share should be fine for those of us on PC's Esme, it's the other way from PC to Mac that seems to give issues.

I'm not really sure what the 'proper way' of sharing objects are, except I do know if you put them on a lot, save the lot to file, drag it to your desktop and open it with CI, you can then save just those objects and upload them to boxnet. Clothes I know you package in bodyshop and the walls in Homecrafter, again to desktop. Or that's where I send things anyway.

I've never had a problem with box.net and my personal information. It's not visible to others.
