For whatever reason, I just thought of LJ and realized that it's been a huge amount of time since I logged on - it also goes to show exactly how much facebook doesn't really encourage sociability...
But anyway, re: Match.com, don't despair - almost all of the popular online dating sites are made for heterosexual relationships (only recently are homosexual/LGBTQ relationships available), as far as I'm aware. Like, come to think of it, we don't get much representation in the dating world. Gay men have grindr and the rest of us have blendr, but the latter isn't effective for those inclined towards Sappho. So please, please don't rely on what Match.com says, they're completely biased in that way.
I think I might have mentioned it way, way back, but you might like tumblr. I kind of got sucked into it because it's and SNS, but full of fandom-minded people. The Star Wars community is small in comparison with everything else, but it's all OT with some PT for good measure. For whatever reason, the EU is not a thing on tumblr. My username is damsel-in-dissidence, but there are a lot of other, more sophisticated blogs that are pretty cool.Tumblr is also nicely LGBTQ-friendly and lots of other awesome things.
Sorry it's a long reply, but we haven't talked in quite a while.
Hey! I've missed you! (hugs) You have no idea how glad I am to see you - it seems like almost everyone on my LJ f-list have either migrated to FB or disappeared completely. It's been pretty lonely, and just clicking "Like" on someone's post isn't the same as a heartfelt comment.
Yeah, I know not to rely on Match.com, but it was still pretty depressing to get no results.
I think I might try tumblr out. I need something new.
