In approximately 49 hours and 50 minutes I will be on the table in the surgical suite where I will acquire a new colon and may shed my ileostomy. The prospect of no more ileostomy depends on the amount of inflammation present in the small piece of my colon and the surgeons ability to make a watertight pouch. If I wake up with no more ileostomy it will be the beginning of my inability to eat solid foods for awhile. So...that makes today the last day of "real" food for awhile.
So far today I have had an english muffin, a large sized one which makes for a better sandwich, with bacon from locally raised free-range pigs, and cheese...YUM! I also drank a Kagome juice that Rachel and I got from Cheese Traders. They are quite tasty, a blend of fruit and vegetables juices that go quite well together. Who would of thought that grape and watercress juices would go together?
Now I'm off to repot some plants and enjoy this beautiful morning. I'm supposed to start prepping for the surgery today by drinking extra fluids so I may keep a bucket to piss in right out in the yard so I don't have to keep going in to the bathroom.
I think my last solid meal for tonight will include a grilled sirloin, some garlic and rosemary roasted potatoes, and either whole green beans or brocolli steamed, I can't decide which. Maybe I'll have some of both.
How about a survey here for any readers: If you would not be able to eat solid foods for an indefinite time what would your "last meal" be?
surgery,
food,
sun
