At Aaron's suggestion, we went to see the new Clash of the Titans on Saturday.

1) Yes, we should have known better. This is something you do for friendship. Even if it hurts.

2) It's not the worst thing that happened to me all weekend, nor the most expensive. So there's that.

3) During the trailers portion, we saw trailers for The Losers and The Expendables. Manly movie demands manly trailers, right? Of course, both of those trailers look good, and we're looking forward to the movies. (Aileen and I both already really like Oscar Jaeneda's sniper based on no real evidence other than a certain level of perceptible Trejo-ish badass awesome.)

But as Aileen was grinning happily beside me during the trailer for The Expendables, it was a pointed reminder of how explicitly lucky I am that I married the best friend I've ever had. Someone who will call me out for enjoying something that's crap for me, but someone who also indulges the hell out of me in some of my other vices. And yes, a woman who wants to go to The Expendables as her kind of fun.

It's her birthday today. She may hate any sort of fuss I make over it, and will probably get irritated at me for mentioning it even on as tiny and rarely read a blog as this is, but she's one of the best presents I've ever gotten in my life. And she gets tired of hearing it from me, so when I have to get it off my chest, sometimes things like this happen.
