Hey people in DK, who are interested in the three As - Africa, archaeology and architecture -, DR currently has a documentary series (2 series with 4 episodes each) called
Afrikas kongedømmer ("Lost Kingdoms of Africa") by art historian Gus Casely-Hayford on the homepage about, well, (some of) the kingdoms of the African continent: Nubia (Kush), Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, West Africa, the Zulu Kingdom, Berber and more. I've only seen the first two (Nubia and Ethiopia), but so far I'm positive: there's a focus on continuity between (the beginning of) the kingdoms and now and the approach to the material depends on the material.
All four of the first series and the two firsts of the second series can can be seen at the link.
The episodes on DR's hjemmeside can unfortunately only be seen by people in DK, but if anyone got any links to a homepage where the episodes can be seen by everyone, please let me know!
I've found the documentary series "The Lost Kingdoms of Africa" by Gus Casely-Hayford, which I mentioned earlier today (see under cut), on YouTube. I've gotten around to watch the four episodes of the first series and the second (?!) episode of the second series, and while the quality swings a little bit, I'm still overall positive.
The titles of the episodes are: Series 1: Nubia, Ethiopia, Great Zimbabwe, West Africa, and series 2: The Kingdom of Asante, The Zulu Kingdom, The Berber Kingdom of Morocco, and Bunyoro & Buganda
The first episode of the first series can be seen
here on YouTube, uploaded by AfricanRootsWorld. The other episodes should "pop up" in the sidebar; it's not necessary to see them in order. For those in Denmark all episodes of the first series and the second and third episode of the second series can be seen
here.
