Question for pansexuals by fuckyeahlgbt
If you are willing to date someone of any race, background or ethnicity, is that like a type of pansexuality? Or is it only referring to different sexes, genders and sexual orientations? Personally, I believe I could date anyone of any sex, gender or sexual orientation, but probably wouldn’t be as keen to dating someone of a different race, ethnicity or religion. Not because I’m racist but just because we have different cultures, and I prefer to date people who are more like me. *Besides my current Catholic boyfriend… I just don’t want to make the mistake of dating someone with different morals and views of life/afterlife again.*

My comment:

First of all, just because someone is of a different race than you doesn’t make them having a different culture or is somehow different from you - that is actually belief that has roots in racism. Racism is such a big part of our (Western) culture that you don’t have to be a racist, per se, to express racist ideas and racist belief systems.

I personally have far more in common with a black Dane than I have with a white American, for example. That we’re from different races doesn’t change the fact that we’re both Danish and, as such, have grown up in the same culture - in opposite to a white American and me. The same can be said of ethinicity and religion, especially if you live in a multi-cultural culture. Again, the cultural background is far more common between me and a Dane, who is a muslim and/or have immigrated from a Middle Eastern country than it is between me and a white American.

Race doesn’t decide how you are as a person, how people react to you due to you race can affect one’s personality, just as many, many other things can.

It actually confuses me when people say stuff like that - noone is saying that they wouldn’t date someone from a different “class”, that they wouldn’t date someone who is far poorer or richer than you, but they, too, come from cultural background that can be just as different as for example someone with a different religion.

ANYWAY.

My impression of pansexual, polysexual and bisexual is that they are all focused on gender, and not on any of they other things - i.e. that they are all non-monosexual religions. The choice of identifying as pan-, poly- or bisexual is mainly to show how one look at genders and/or whatever is the prefered term for it depending on where we’re from.

I’m not a big dater - NO RESPONSIBILITIES FOR OTHER PEOPLE, YAY. FREEEEEDOM -, but I wouldn’t say I couldn’t date anyone belonging to any of the above mentioned groups. I have, as everybody else probably has, been affected by how the media often portrait race and couples - whitey with whitey and black person with black person -, which makes it easier to imagine myself with a white person (if I have to imagine something as that, dghkjds, ew, relationships). But the media also shows far more heterosexual couples than homosexual couples, and that doesn’t stop me from being non-monosexual (haven’t decided on how to identify yet; it’ll propbably be pansexual), so… why not?

I wouldn’t date someone who is extremly right-winged or religious. I’m extremly left-winged and an Atheist, who studies religion at the University. I wouldn’t date someone who wants a family or needs me all the time (either emotionally or psysically) - I’m NOT a family person and I have no intention of every playing mummy for anyone: I want to travel. And I wouldn’t date someone I didn’t find sexual attractive as I’m bloody damn shallow and don’t want to shut my eyes during sex.

- Yours truly, Mry.

Two other people reblogged by stuff, and pointed out that the first part is the best/what they agree with/whatever. Stuff. Other people also commented on her posts, being... not so nice as I was :P
fuckyeahlgbt didn't stop there, though, which I also had to comment on.

In other word? Head, meet desk. Also, I'm annoyed that I didn't get around to comment on her COMPLETELY LACK OF RESEARCH, JEEZ. How freaking hard can it be to just fucking google it?

Anyway, gotta survive tomorrow (oh hell no. Uni without homework done, gotta clean this shitty room before my dad comes, my dad coming over... and so on) and then it's weekend. And *~PARTAY~*, but mainly weekend :D
Also? HEY, I'M ALIVE, WEEEEEE.
