Stand

Okay so there's this quote by Henry David Thoreau that I really like that states:

how vain it is
to sit down to write
if you have not stood up to live.

So this morning after a virtually sleepless night I decided to 'stand' to see the sunrise--something I don't really remember ever seeing, though I probably have at least once.  Well I walked around outside a bit down the roads to see where the sun would come up (I'd never really taken the time to figure this out) and I finally found a place to stand and I saw that first deepening pink smudge on the horizon.  But something else I noticed were the clouds above it.  They looked all normal, except for one tiny little splotch of cloud that looked way out of place.  In fact, it looked quite alien and uncloudlike.  Hmm and so I mused about this odd little cloud as I continued to watch the sun rise.  In essence, I kept 'checking up' on the little guy to see how he was faring.  That's when I noticed other pieces of cloud beginning to look out of place as well.  Weird.  The sun continued to rise.  When I looked back up, I was somewhat intrigued.  No longer did anything look out of place.  Sure, all the little odd clouds were still there, but now there were so many of them that you'd have never noticed them.  In fact, you wouldn't have noticed anything 'out of place.'  Maybe...  oh it looked amazing.  I'd recommend the experience to anyone.

clouds, sunrise
