autumn hanging down, all the trees are draped like chandeliers

Over the weekend, I decided to register to vote as an Austin resident. I had thought about going back to Spring every November, but then I realized that I am going to be here for the next four years (or longer...). I think this last act has cemented my transition from Houston to Austin, and perhaps also from high-school kid to college adult.

Not much to say in other news. I always thought Randy Newman was black, but he just appeared on The Colbert Report, and was very white. This is reminiscient of the surprise at the end of Return of the Jedi, when Luke lifts Darth Vader's imposing black helmet to discover a feeble white man underneath the mask. I don't usually write in allusions to Star Wars, but this one just struck me. Also, there's so much to do in Austin/at UT that I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. I could use about 12 more hours in the day. Or a time machine.

Lots of films to watch! Breathless, Distant, Fans Only, Amores Perros, and Bon Voyage. Just need to find time. And I still haven't seen The Science of Sleep!

I'm not taking things too seriously. Or thinking too hard. Just reading a lot. Drawing a lot. Watercoloring a lot. Listening to Belle & Sebastian a lot. Writing a little. And maybe going a little crazy. In the best way.

Back to my paper.
