my weekend
well i had quite an interesting weekend. friday i decided to finish the patio. my dad had started power-washing the back patio last week, and had asked me to finish it when we had a nice day. since friday was beautiful i decided to do it then. now the patio is all brick, and we were washing it because there was moss growing in the seams. so naturally once hit with a huge burst of water the moss and mud were flying all over the place, and i was completely covered in mud. i wish i had gotten a picture. my sunglasses were all spotted, my face was completely covered in mud, and my clothes were a lovely shade of brown. after spending most of the day outside i was pretty sundburned.
while i was outside barney had followed me out, he was hanging out in the grass when he started having trouble breathing. it continued on and off during the day. Sunday we woke up and he was worse. then all of a sudden it was like he couldn't breath, his eyes were rolling back in his head. it was really scary. so we rushed him to the vet for an emergency visit. he was on my lap on the drive to the vet and he was shaking and couldn't breath. it was really scary, i thought we were going to lose him. and of course as soon as we get him out of the car and to the vet he calms down and seems to be ok. the vet suggested that he have surgery to tie back his larynx, but since he's already 13, my parents don't want to put him through any more surgery. they figure he's been through enough. he seems ok now, but it was a real shock to all of us. i think it really hit home just how old he is, and how sick he is. :(
once we knew barney was ok we all calmed down. i washed my car, which involved even more time outside. and even more sunburn. i helped my dad put seatbelts in the jag, which was a lot of work. but it was fun. i'm learning a lot about the cars by working with him every weekend.
