I think this scene pretty much sums up how I'm feeling right now. (Mmmmm... homo-eroticism in the American military...) I mean you really need to see Willem Dafoe do the whole shirtless waving hand thing, but they don't have the full clip in an easily accessible form on Youtube, so this will have to suffice.
I have an essay due Thursday morning for my summer course, and I decided to write it on the Vietnam War through film. (The prof wants a review-type of essay (on either books or films), so I chose film.)
To say I'm feeling overwhelmed is an understatement. Sunday night I watched Full Metal Jacket. Yesterday I watched MASH, The Green Berets, Platoon, and The Deer Hunter. This afternoon I watched Apocalypse Now Redux.
I've decided to take a little break, to get my mind off of things for a while. I really, really hope that I start writing the paper tonight, but I guess I'll figure that out when I come to it.
I just feel, weird, you know? Not desensitized, but just weird. Drained, I suppose. (That might have to do with the fact that I got 6 hours of sleep, and that since I woke up this am (10 hours ago), I've eaten a bagel and an apple. And I finally got my period, so yay and not-so-much-yay. But still, I feel weird having watched so much of that kind of movie and mindset in such a compressed amount of time.)
I'm just sitting here in my room with the lights out and the sunshine from outside peeking through my blinds. The light's not even strong enough to create a pattern on my floor, but I don't mind. The fuzzy-ness is good.
Yup. I think I'm just going to lie here for a while, sipping my Sweet Vermouth and Diet Gingerale.
Ps. Started watching Lost for the first time. :)
