Birthday card, guest post by Happy sunshine

Hi Everyone! This is Anupama from Happy Sunshine and this is my first guest post. I would like to thank eshgheman for inviting me to do this post.

One of the BIG questions I almost always face when a dear one’s birthday is nearing - the GIFT.
Recently it was birthday of my pottery teacher who is also a very dear friend of mine. She herself is such a creative person that I wanted to present a hand-made gift!

In quest for some creative ideas, what inspired and fascinated me instantly was this paper art called ‘Quilling’.'Quilling', a.k.a 'paper filigree', is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is wound around a quill to create a basic coil shape. The paper is glued at the tip and the coil shaped to a desired pattern to form flowers, leaves, and various ornamental patterns.

Inspired by work of Inna and Yulia Brodskaya, I made this simple birthday card! For this work, I used things at my disposal - colored paper, glue stick, paper knife and tooth pick (for coiling). Ikea’s deep frame was just apt for presenting it!
I thoroughly enjoyed making this and hope to learn more of this beautiful art work.
