So let me set this one up a bit. As you may know, I work at IKEA in the home delivery / furniture hand out department. We have a main entrance to the department and a door to the outside that the delivery drivers use. That door is for the drivers ONLY.
So when people ask me "can I go out that door?" I tell them no because that is for our drivers only. There are several signs on those doors that say "DO NOT ENTER DELIVERY DRIVERS ONLY" And yet people constantly ask the same stupid question.
So, on to the stupid customer. This guy came in and wanted to pick up his order and was told that he could move his car to the loading zone and then come back in to the desk with his receipt to collect his order. About 10 minutes later the guy was at the back door knocking and waiving me over. So I go and open the door.
"So what, do I wait out here for my order or what?" He asks.
"No, you have to come back in the store with your receipt so we can stamp it and then you can take your items out on a cart." I reply.
"So your telling me that I have to walk all the way around the building to get back here?" he asks.
"Unfortunately sir, this door is only for our drivers. Nothing goes in or out through here unless it is being delivered by our trucks." I tell him
He says, "That is a little ridiculous. Can't I just give my receipt to you and you can roll my cart out here?"
"No sir I can't. As I just told you, we cannot take customers merchandise out this door."
At that time he just scoffed and turned back to his car. A few minutes later his prego wife comes into the store. I went to greet her and she says,
"Hi, you were just speaking to my husband and you told him that you couldn't take our stuff out to him?"
So I tell her, "I told him that we aren't allowed to take merchandise out that door because of security reasons."
The she says "So you telling me that we have to walk all around the store to pick up our stuff?" All the while periodically glancing down at her 8 month pregnant stomach *as if I could miss it*. So I tell her that I am sorry but that is our policy.
"You're freaking kidding me?" She states. "Can't you push the stuff out that door and I can meet you out there?" she asks.
"No ma'am, we can't take the merchandise out that door."
"You're freaking kidding me?!" She starts to get louder again looking down at her belly. "Well can you at least push the cart outside for me?" At this point I have completely switched off and stopped trying to help her. and I said, "No I can't, sorry."
"You're freaking kidding me!!?" Now I have to point out that I am not embellishing this story for you the reader. This is how the conversation went on. I told her that the items she has are not heavy and on a cart... with wheels so she can push it out and there are people outside that help load items in cars. Again she replies, "You're freaking kidding me!!?" Still trying to get me to notice the result of a broken condom growing in her gut.
"So you can't take it out that door, and you wont push it out for me, what am I supposed to do?!"
At this point I am quite aggravated so I reply, "Well I guess your items will have to stay here." and walk away. Then she says... you guessed it. Her catch phrase "You're freaking kidding me!! Where is your manager?" I point to Tochelle (who was a supervisor) who tells her, "Sorry ma'am, that is our policy." She had been sitting there and we share contempt for jerk customers so she backed me up. ;)
Shortly after that se was waiting for the items and I went to the back door and saw her husband sitting on the hood of the car waiting like a happy happy f*&k tard. I look at the lady who is staring daggers at me and I say to a co-worker, "What is wrong with her lazy ass husband sending his pregnant wife to pick up their stuff?"
So I told the guy that he couldn't go in or out the back door, and I couldn't take it out to him through that door so he thinks, "I'll get him... I will send my pregnant wife in and everyone has to be nice to Mrs. Preggers." Little did he know that he was fighting against Admiral Stoneheart! The most fearsome coldhearted bastard in the customer service industry. I could give a shit fuck that she is pregnant. No one asked her to lift anything, just roll it on a cart. She was pushing a stroller just fine... Oh yeah, and her husband wasn't a leg amputee so what's the problem?
Anyway, hope you enjoyed that.
