....is really gonna be pretty interesting.
Dad is home from the hospital now, and seems to be doing alright. the only issue that we have had so far is that he randomly will get up really early in the morning and take the van out driving (he's not supposed to drive for another two weeks because of the painkillers he is taking). OTherwise, he has been doing fairly well.
Mom is stil in the hospital, although she was moved from ICU at Tacoma General to the Rehabilitation center at Good Samaritan in Puyallup. There is still no news of when she will be allowed to come home, but we are thinking it will be at leaast the end of summer at the earliest. She has some degree of movement in her arms, but things are still pretty tough. she doesn't have much for motor skills and so everything has to be done for her, but progress seems to be coming slowly but surely. Their hope is that once her Physical therapy is done she will be able to at least feed herself without too much difficulty.
The driver who hit their car was charged with "Neglegent Driving II" and then sent home without any semblance drug or Liquor testing, so the lawyer is hoping to increase his charges to Vehicular assault over the course of the next few weeks. The medical bills are thru the roof, and so there is no way that my parents are aever going to be able to manage without sueing this guy for what little bit he is worth to cover everything. As of Wed. Last week, Dad's hospital stay alone was estimated to be about $50K (not including doctors) and mom's was above $500k and still climbing steadily. We will be well into the millions worth of medical costs before this is done, with no comprehensible way of paying for it. Apparently we won't be able to gain much from the other driver as he has just been divorced and had to take out a second morgtage on his brand new house... so there is no money there to be had. he will file bankruptcy before we can take much.
Needless to say tempers are a bit high around the house right now....I think as much as I am glad to have been home to help......... I wil be very much relieved when the 31st comes around and I can come home to my poor husband (who was more or less abandoned in the mess)and get back to some semblance of normal life before the baby comes in July and turns everything upsidedown again. My family is nice to visit.... but I can only handle them in small doses.... especially during a time of crisis......there are jsut too many people who want to help and we keep getting in everyone elses way.
I want to come home now. :(
