These are page decorations from an instruction book(let) called 'American Clown: Athletic Dance for Men or Boys' by George Caskey (1886) - 2nd Ed. 1927 at the Rare Books and Special Collections site at the University of South Carolina.

Click the link to see this little gem online. The illustrations are probably no more than 1.5" tall at print size.

It's full of excellent depictions of expressive body language. Also good example for how to show a dynamic figure without emphasis on idealized musculature; the clown costume is basically a concealing bag, so it's not about anatomical detail but gesture.

The pictures on page 8 remind me of an old Kid 'n Play dance routine.
