okay, minor news in the life of chris
kit hasn't been feeling well lately and last night she was burning up with a crazy bad fever.
like, you could cook an egg on her belly. it was kinda freaky :P poor critter, but fortunately
it broke last night and today she's feeling much better. so all's well there :) my suspicion
is that it's a variation of the sick that RoomieBill had last week. i feel fine though, but
that's because i'm indestructable :D
we were gonna go out and socialize with
srakkt, however, which got canned. so maybe
soon, friday or sump'n. we'll see. i need reasons to get out of the house!
speaking of which, i've been cycling more around the neighborhood. malden isn't as quaint as
dorchester, it just isn't as old, however, there is some scenery to be had, mostly in the form
of urban decay and old abandoned industry from the past few decades. i found the Teddie Bear
peanut factory, which has a big cut-out bear perched on top of the building proudly proclaiming SALTED NUTS in all caps. i'll have to take my camera next time :)
the old 60-70's signage in the area is just wonderful, in a deadpan Chris Ware sort of way.
in other news, I'm Going To Be Published :D i got this email from a textbook editor in Italy who wanted to use some of the photos of the "bug" sculptures I made a couple summers ago in a book on art for kids. i'm getting paid in euros and will be receiving a copy of the book when it's put out in january, yay! i have to remember to look for it then. that was an unexepected bonus, i'd never considered the photographs as illustrations, themselves, just as a record of the sculptures.
i'm painting, trying to keep busy. been doing lots of wii fit too, which is fun :) it seems to be working.
i just finished reading the wonderful The Bride Stripped Bare which is -excellent- and grown-up reading about relationships and inner lives. i recommend it to alla y'all, srsly.
um, what else, oh! Kit showed me West Side Story the other day, which i just had never got around to seeing before. sooooo beautiful! and sad, and beautiful <3
we went to beach :D the ocean! the ocean! omg, the sea <3
right now i'm reading Faust and making headway. it's full of tasty passages, and is a little prescient.
stuff :)
